June 16th, 2006: Firefox?


What is so great about Firefox? Seriously, what features does it include that makes it so great that it makes people bash IE after ’switching’? Hmm. I downloaded it to help my friend her test her site, and not only does my site look a little wierd (which I guess I’ll have to fix) but the whole browser itself looks a little wierd to me. Blech, I’m not sure how I feel about it at all. Someone please tell me why they like Firefox.

Anyway, after a few hours, my hair is done and I’m pleased. I intended to post a picture but I hate how my head looks big right after I get my hair done, so that will have to wait. I made a new friend named Tracy (who was getting her hair in cornrows a seat away from me) while I was there too. We bonded through our supermarket cashier horror stories and our Jamaican heritage (shutup ) - go figure. I’m going to get a manicure tomorrow :grin:. For myself, I guess. I completely did a 180 in terms of birthday plans. One of my best girls is going to be in Puerto Rico (ah! so lucky! — among alot of other people having to do various things around the same time) so the remainder of us will be having dinner at my house, and I’m fine with that, as long as I have a little booze to celebrate with.

Or maybe I’ll just stuff myself into one of her suitcases.

So everyone flaked out on me. Everyone. Except for Joel. What would I do without him? He pampered me and made a fabulous lasagna dinner, so I still enjoyed my day with my family . My grandma got me liquor for my birthday, too heh. Needless to say I’m feeling quite happy. According to those who did call me, I’m to expect a wave a presents hitting me between now and the end of June. Which is nice and all, but all I wanted to do was hang out. Presents are nice, but they’re kinda secondary to having even a mini celebration with your friends/family. Anyway, I’m going to attempt to try and get some sleep once again (it’s so freakin’ hot in here ) but before I do, here’s pics of my hair. Don’t say I didn’t warn you:

    I’ve been using Firefox for the past 2 years or so, mostly because of the security and bug issues that IE has. Microsoft has never had anything new to fix all the stuff that’s wrong with IE (except for the latest browser which is seriously a pathetic attempt at copying Firefox/Opera’s interface…, so that in itself is something to be worried about.

    There’s also the fact that IE tends to have lower standards or something, I think, when it comes to translating HTML or any other code you have. I guess it’s why there are codes that IE translates but are never actual codes that W3C has approved or something.

    All I can suggest is for you to go to http://www.switch2firefox.com/. I once read an article that was kind-of like their Top 10 Reasons to Switch (except it was longer and more detailed…. When I finished, I decided to try using other browsers and fell in love with Mozilla Firefox. So yeah, I’ve been using it ever since.

    Sorry to hear about how everyone seems like they have somewhere else to go, but it sounds like you’re going to have a most awesome bday nonetheless! Soo… have loads and loads and loads of fun!!

    I started using firefox simply because I was getting so many pop ups with IE. I must admit that I hated FF at first. But, I have been using for awhile now and I’m completely used to it. But, I dont miss IE at all.

    I want to see your hair!! I bet you look hot!

    for my 19th (canadian drinking age), birthday i was super sick, 20th i was even sicker, and for my 21st, we went bowling. HA!

    i’m not sure about firefox, i’ve been up and down about it. i use ie, and have never had any problems with it, but i have firefox simply for the purpose of seeing my site in it. i may decide to convert someday down the road. i may not -shrug-, i don’t see the big deal with it.

    I did that too, to test my sit, It does look different, but I don’t see why people like it more, Internet Explorer has a better browser lol.

    Lol I wish I could make friends like that, I’m too quiet ans shy which sucks soo much! lol I hope you guys have a great friendship!

    Hey Dee Well personally I dont like forefox, the best feature is the pop up protection and the tabs. I use AOL explorer because it has tabs, and where personal sites look crazy in firefox they look almost exactly the same in AOL as they do in IE and AOL exploroer has tabs and pop up protertion like firefox.But thats just my opinion. But tommorrow’s our special day!! HOPE YOU GET LOTS AND LOTS OF GIFTS!!!

    Firfox is supposed to have extra virus protection on it. Personally I think it screws up every form of web design if your codes aren’t perfect. This layout is soo cute btw hun. andyou need to get to posting that picture of your hair. i wanna see! i havent spoken to you in awhile but im glad that your doing alright. are you stilla big fan of ANTM? well sweets, ill ttyl

    I use firefox once in a while but nothing exactly spectacular has me using it all the time. I’ve notice that there are less pop ups on firefox. Thats a bonus.

    Hope you have a good birthday dinner. Drinking always seems to make things funner till someone gets so drunk that they decide to smash the glass bottle on their head. True story.

    I prefer Firefox or anything open-source. And I like having my codes almost perfect so using FF forced me to pay close attention to my codes. At first I didn’t like FF interface as well, but once I downloaded themes and extension to it, I like how it looks now.

    I use firefox because of the plugins and the fact that I can skin it Also, it is heaps better with security and all of that.
    Gosh, go the beauty and pampering I like going to the hair dressers and chatting with all the people - you meet so many interesting people there. Hehe.

    I use something that is the equivalent to FireFox.. except it’s for Mac (Apple) Pc’s called Safari.. As opposed to IE for Mac, Safari makes things look a bit.. clearer.. i cant explain it and i dunno if its the same for Firefox ’cause i use a whole another type of pc that doesnt use windows.. so blah! lol. ah.. i so need my hair done.. i bought a flat iron recently and i love it! ha.. i am such a loser.

    well i was suggested from another friend to use Firefox because it’s so much better, i don’t think i would trade in my IE for Firefox because IE is my main browser & i wouldn’t trade that for the whole lol

    Have you looked at all of the Firefox add-ons. That explains how great Firefox is :P I have so many cool extensions to my browser, very handy ones. I love it! You must check them out. I love getting my hair and nails done. I just recently DEEP CONDITIONED my hair. It feels wonderful

    I’m not super huge on Firefox myself. My boyfriend SWEARS by it and since he’s a butthead and stubborn, I gradually got used to it too. The only thing I like are some of the plugins that show me when I get new gmail messages and the tab feature. I don’t like how some of my coding that’s IE only such as colored scrollbars don’t show up though.

    Happy 21st Birthday! Firefox is cool. I like it because I don’t have to have a million windows open…just tabs that I can reorder. Great stuff. Some sites don’t look good with Firefox though…especially if their coding isn’t perfect…it shows.

    I love this layout. It’s beautiful. I personally don’t like firefox. I have it on my computer but I never use it because it looks like crap.

    IE started acting like crap, and it is more vulnerable to viruses. Firefox is more secure, less pop ups, etc. I didn’t like it at first, but really I don’t miss IE at all. Especially since I switched to firefox I have far less computer problems.

    However by using firefox I am getting better at coding in a more transitional fashion so that it is vieable in most browsers. Plus I like my tabbing… haha.

    I am sure your birthday plans will be great however you do them as long as you are surrounded by those that you love But the suitcase idea isn’t too shabby.. lol.

    Oh, and I would love to exchange links with you I’ll add you in my next update.

    I use FF, and it’s not like I hate IE, I just prefer FF now. and believe me, it took me the longest time to adjust to the transition - I had FF installed for like, 6 months before I fully took the plunge. and now, I’ll never go back. it’s just… more organized. and I use my bookmarks more now with FF. and plugins! gotta love plugins!

    I use to firefox, but I switched back after a while, I just hate using it, it makes everyones site looks wierd because they usually code for IE not firefox..you dont see color scroll bars or any of that fun stuff. The only thing that I was interested in when I was first using it was the fact that you can have one browser, and have many tabs to view sites, making it more convinent and neat.
    omg hun, your hair looks beautiful, the color is hot. Its funny where you can meet the most random people, its good you were able to vibe with that girl at the salon. Toodles.

    i made the switch! haha, from IE to firefox. at first, i was weirded out by firefox. i couldn’t see scrollbar colors and my site looked horrible in it, but IE always froze and i got a lot of popups when i used it. i had to learn to code so my site looked good in all browsers, not just IE, anyway, but now I love firefox; especially tabbed windows. it’s awesome. your site looks perfectly fine in firefox, by the way.

    nope, i’m not going to post pictures… because… i’m lazy! haha, i don’t feel like it. i love taking pictures, but it comes to uploading&resizing, i’m anti that.

    anyway, i love your hair. i had my hair like that a while back =D

    I think your website looks fine in Firefox. I like it, because it seems like it’s easier to code layouts with Firefox. Also, it’s hated (it seems like) by 90% of web designers. Haha. I guess it’s just because IE can be complicating when it comes to coding, it’s outdated, etc. I have no idea. Personally, I do like Firefox a lot better. :/ I guess a lot of websites I got to just look better in it.

    Ugh. At last someone feels the same way I do about Firefox. It just blocks some codes and makes pages look fucked up… while there will always be new webdesigners out there who dont know how to code correctly. it’s just… ugh. I like Internet Explorer so much better!

    Lol. I used to hate firefox until I started using WP. Now IE feels strange to me. I don’t know what it is. I guess it’s because used to have a lot of problems with IE shutting down all the time and websites never loading properly, and I never have that with firefox. I just it’s just preference.

    HAPPY (belated, yes) BIRTHDAY! Those pictures are too precious.

    As for FF, I’m no technical person when it comes to my browsers, and at first I couldn’t make the switch because I was too used to pressing control N to open a new window. My IE was being slow for a while so I switched, got used to using tabs, and I don’t think I could go back now! I like simple things, like how it saves my passwords so that I don’t even have to click the field when I’m logging in somewhere…plus it’s faster OH and my IE stopped being able to save webpages (I know, weird).

    Happy belated birthday!

    I’m not crazy about Firefox or IE.
    IE has to many issues with security, and FireFox makes your layouts look crazy. I hate that my scroll bar colors don’t show and I can’t get my music to play on it. Baah!
    I use Avant or Maxthon browers all the time. It’s like IE, but you don’t have to worry about the issues IE has.

    Like most people, I use Firefox simply because IE can’t possibly fix its security or bug issues, and for some reason it just doesn’t display webpages according to web standards. But well, it’s another one of Microsoft’s stupid attempt to monopolize the whole world :rolleyes:

    Firefox has rarely any pop-ups, tabbed browsing, and security. Thats why I like it. :happytear:
