November 9th, 2006: rudeness in the Big City

I love the structure of that building.

I love manhattan. Joel and I accompanied my mom to her job a the other day to help her with some odds and ends. Joel assembled some office furniture and then I took some pictures. There was a time when I really wanted to be an accountant, but after working at my mom’s job for two tax seasons, my mind was quickly changed.
There was alot of reasons but one of the big ones was that people are so rude! Seriously - especially when it comes to their money, even though I think everyone’s had their fair share of disgruntled customers. Arg.
To put things in perspective - for these people to have their taxes done, it means they’re making money. If they’re making money they’re working. I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t appreciate someone coming to where they work be uncooperative but people don’t really treat others as they’d want to be treated, do they? I just think that people are too highstrung sometimes in that profession (well, any profession, i think). Moving on.
The next day she called me and told me she got to talk to a celebrity (a pretty big one) on her way out of work. They had a short conversation and it was just a cool coincidence. When she told one of her friends, she starting flippin, getting mad that my mom didn’t get an autograph. We got into how some of these groupies get so crazy I’m pretty sure they’d commit manslaughter to get close.
I just think it’s so freaking rude and uncalled for. Especially when you see grown people doing it too. Sitting on top of the head of your favorite celebrity and wringing their neck won’t get you a chance to talk to them. I don’t know, I don’t think I’ve ever been like that not even in my backstreet boys days
, just wild out and rip a celebrity apart limb from limb — though some people say it’s the price celebs pay for being in the lime light, i still couldn’t invade someone’s space like that even if they weren’t celebrities. I think I’d get embarassed. Yeah.
I should make a new layout - it’s about that time. This layout won’t be going far though; if I ever get a theme switcher, it’ll be there.

Hey Dee ,
I’ve been missing out on so much. Those pictures are gorgeous. I really need to come to New York. It seems like a pretty chill place not to mention some of the beautiful scenary.
Whoa @ your mom speaking with a celebrity. That’s awesome. Who was it ?
Anywho , i’ll be back on the scene soon. I miss my internet so much ! Being at work on the computer is horrible. Especially since the supervisor monitor every keystroke on these computers. Ugh ! I miss you tons. Email me. I put my email in the form.
Those pictures are awesome…
I so want to go to NYC one of these days… That’s like the only place in the states I wouldn’t mind living. XD
Beautiful pictures.
LOL ive gone through my groupie days. i used to be one of those who would go insane, and scream from the top of my lungs at backstreet boys concerts. but after meeting quite a lot celebrities and actually befriending some of them i started realising, wait a minute they’re just people like u and me :P
it’s highstrung not highsprung.*
but yeah call me sometime this weekend if you can. i saw your missed call (if you left a vm i didnt hear it yet) & called you back but no answer? pffft. MILK STRAWBERRY ORANGE SORBET SUNSET.*
which celebrity was it?
& i hate how people act rude just because they know they can get away with it. if i had my own business, i would simply tell them to leave. but i work under someone else so there’s no room for that.
i swear i would so push you out of my damn way if i was in the city lol i could see you now, walking slow, taking pictures, psh bitch please.
im taking that.. and stop typing about the layout change, BE ABOUT IT !!!! ♥ buffalo rider out!
Jeez that sucks about the rude people in the ciry. But I agree with you, that building has an awesome structure. I wish I could go there someday =) BTW your photos are really great.
My dad meets celebrities all the time but he never know who they are except that everyone makes a big fuss over them. He always comes home with autographed cd’s & posters and asks me if I know the person (most recently it was James Blunt). He says he has co-workers who go ga-ga over these celebs.
One of the reasons why I hated working in customer service were the customers. It sort of makes you lose hope in humanity and realize how stupid people are. It’s a shame we can’t throttle rude customers. As a customer, I am never rude regardless of how upset I am because I know being unreasonable won’t solve anything and I know what it’s like working in customer service, unless of course the employee is just a down right bitch to me for no reason.
Btw, goooorgeous pictures!
I love the pictures you took.
The celeb situation was not that serious. Your mom’s friend is buggin.
I love the picture of the building. Reminds me of a double helix or something. It’s hot though!
Beautiful pictures, as always. As for the whole celebrity situation, call me pissed or what have you, but I don’t think most deserve the crazy attention they get. As for autographs, what’s the point really? To have something that a celebrity TOUCHED? If I ever met a celebrity I liked, I would probably more try to have a conversation with him/her than beg for them to sign my baby.
the first photo is awesome. i also like the second
WHO is the big celebrity your mom talked too??
those pictures are amazing! my mother badly wants me to be an accountant because of the salaries they make, but my heart just isn’t into it. i want a career that i’ll enjoy.
Hi! Blog hopped my way over from Helga’s blog. I love your little site here.
Interesting!
See ya!
Tell me about the rudeness, i just moved to ct but i’m on the borderline of ct and NY and people here are something else entirely but its growing on me. Love the site lady
wow i loooove neat buildings!
my goal is to visit NYC sometime
yes i agree at the rudeness of people. yesterday at the hospital i went up with an ultrasound technician to ultrasound this 17 year old in labor. well, the girl was the RUDEST person i’ve ever encountered. she was bitching at her doctor because her doctor told her she couldnt be drinking her chocolate milk and eating her mcdonald’s while in labor. she told the doctor “i can do whatever the FUCK i want” …..and she would just throw fits. it’s even worse when you’re bending over backwards to do something for somebody and you get no respect. /END RANT.
wow i love the photos. especially the first one is beautiful

thanks for your email btw, i already replied
xoxo
i like the structure of that building too, its pretty cool
who was the celebrity that your mom talked to?
That first photo is GORGEOUS. Oh my gosh girl! The structure is amazing haha. I don’t see anything wrong with kindly asking for an autograph, but there’s no need to freak out, jump up and down, and try to grab at them like some people might.. that’s rude haha.
WOW - what amazing photos, Dee! You always manage to get some really spiffy angles on your photos. Awesome!
UGH - I firmly believe that people are rude everywhere and not just in the larger cities. Rudeness is an epidemic and folks would rather walk over you than walk around you. Bleh. I hate people.
*lol*
deeee! that first picture is gorgeous!! gosh u just make me wanna go outside & take pictures of shit. lol. && u better hurry with that darn layout!!
i want to visit ny, but i DEF dont wanna move up north, mainly bc of the weather. but the rudeness and congestiveness follows close behind. down here in the south, im not too sure if uve been here, but even if ppl dont know u theyll speak, smile, wave, thats what im used too. cant speak for everybody but im sure uve heard of southern hospitality. i love photography and i wanted to tell u those pics are gorgeous!!
You take some really beautiful photos. I worked in retail, it was almost the same, really rude customers. I will NOT be getting into that line of work EVER again.
I don’t think people’s privacy should be invaded either. If some celebs were regular people on the street, some people wouldn’t look at them twice.
It always amazes me how some people seem to lose their damn minds over celebrities. I could never be the one to lame out and lose my damn mind regardless of how much I admire someone. it’s just not be and I don’t see the point. They are just people.
And I thought everything what’s shown in movies is fake! :happytear:

Actually, I see people are rude in both reality and movie.
And the building is just great. I love how you made that picture. It’s good to put on your desktop.
Take care!
