February 14th, 2008: Happy Valentine’s Day

So - have you ever had a ton of things happen, and when you go to retell the story to those who ask, it doesn’t seem like much at all? Hah, yes. It’s just one of those things, folks.

Despite the consensus - the one that says I’m dead, I’m actually still among the living, if only for a little while. Thanks for all 50 of those comments! Just when I thought no one was paying attention.

Four holidays - Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s - all came and left with a dormant Like-Honey They were all great for me, and to go through all the tidbits…Again, It’s just one of those things. But I could allude to each event with one sentence and make it sound so much more intriguing than it was:

Halloween: Don’t let Happy Feet drink. Vote for Pedro.

Thanksgiving: For Jamaicans, the legal drinking age is 40, not 21.

Christmas: I didn’t know grandma could dance like that.

New Years: Did you see that asian prostitute stealing liquor?!

And there you have it.

So, Laceypoo and I were talking about this list she’d started. There are so many little things in the world that are very often overlooked that can bring you joy, if only for a moment. Her list is beyond cute - I can count at least 5 things that I love from that list alone. After some prodding, she got me to make my own list, lovingly dubbed It’s the little things.

Getting handwritten letters in the mail.
Spinning in desk chairs.
Fresh school supplies.
Singing a song that’s stuck in your head and it coming on the radio.
The smell of grass in the spring.
The silhouette of leaves on windows.
Dreaming of your dream car.
Someone saying exactly what you’re thinking.
Falling asleep in a moving car.
Thinking you’re out of cereal and finding a new box for the taking.
Laying down and being perfectly comfortable.
The joy of sailing through three or more green traffic lights.
Waking up and it’s so perfectly bright and sunny outside that it fills your whole room up.
The feeling you get from Disney songs.
Getting to the perfect ending of a good book. Bittersweet, but sweet nonetheless.
Talking to someone for the first time and connecting with them immediately.
Peeling the plastic sticker off the screens of new stuff after it’s been scratched up and watching it look brand new.
Daydreaming to a soundtrack.

What are some of the little things in life that you enjoy? Or even the big things. Or even one thing! Let’s hear it! New layout, by the way. I likes it.

Oh! I’ve been meaning to express just how happy I am that everyone likes the downloads that I’ve provided. They definitely took a while to make, and I’m glad they’re being put to good use. That being said, I’ve created an extended pack for one set in particular, because they are by far the most downloaded set of smileys:

See, I was proud of you when you changed the layout but I was still thinking “okay, now all she has to do is blog.” but that took you forever also. LOL The layout is beautiful by the way.

But I love:

Eating fresh spaghetti thats seasoned just right.
Taking naps throughout the day.
Waking up and feelings refreshed.
Long hot showers after a long day.
Bubble baths.
Getting new electronics.
Trying on jeans that actually fit.
Looking at my room after I have cleaned it.
Taking random pictures.
Getting inspired.

DEE!!!!! Omg, you’re alive! Welcome back, love. I know what you mean, though. When I don’t blog about something that happened that day, or a particular holiday, I usually don’t end up doing it. Hahaha. It just doesn’t seem that interesting.

I didn’t know you crochet! How long have you been doing it? Are you having any luck rekindling your skills?

i have been wondering when you were going to update lol welcome back!

that always happens to me i have so many things happen but then i start thinking that nothing is worth writing about.

hm little things that bring me joy let’s see…
- the sound & smell of rain late at night
- the radio playing a song you haven’t heard in a minute

um i can’t think of anything else right now.

Always was a fan of your place. and to see that you have returned is nice as well. As a Jamaican myself I don’t even drink. But 40, I don’t think anyone in my family who follows that anyways…

Well, I am glad that you are living! Ha. Sorry for that awful rambling on my website, I like to complain. A lot I read your alluding list for the holidays, and I was thinking “wow, sounds like a lot more fun than what I had…” and it was only like 20 words. Haha. I wish I had that much fun… booooring!

Isn’t it weird when it seems like you’re doing a lot of things, it doesn’t seem like that when you write them down? Maybe I just have a normally boring life though, lol.

One of my favorite “little things” is baking something and having it turn out irresistibly good.

Happy belated V-Day, Dee!

I love daydreaming to soundtracks! I like to imagine myself singing them or think of an exciting storyline with lots of characters to fit the song’s theme. LOL, I’m such a big kid at heart.

Here are my own “little” things -

* Cuddling on a cold winter’s day in front of the fireplace
* Smooshing my face into my cats’ fur and listening to them purr
* Melted cheese…
* The feeling you get where your stomach leaps as you go over a sudden slope on a country road
* White hot chocolate, or just hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream on top

I could go on for like, ages. So we’ll leave it there.
